VUELTA A SAN JUAN: JULEN AMEZQUETA WITH THE FAVOURITES IN THE QUEEN STAGE

The 2017 of Julen Amezqueta started with the right foot as the climber from Estela showed his talent in the 5th stage of Vuelta a San Juan, the only uphill finish of the race, resisting with the group of the favorites till 3 kms to go and then ending in 11th place 1’06” away from the winner, the portuguese Rui Costa.

The spanish climber wasn’t the only Wilier Triestina – Selle Italia riders to be protagonist as at the beginning of the stage Alex Turrin was in a breakaway attempt of 20 riders that were caught just after the first KOM of the day.

In the general classification Julen Amezqueta steps up to the 18th place with two stages to go, both suit the sprinters like Manuel Belletti that already showed that he can bring the first win of the season to the team and that will try all his best to do it
