TROFEO LAIGUEGLIA: MATTEO BUSATO ENDS IN 3RD PLACE IN THE OPENING ACT OF THE ITALIAN SEASON
A very good debut on the italian road for the team Wilier Triestina – Selle Italia that starts the Ciclismo Cup 2018 with a podium that let the team today directed by Serge Parsani to lead the classification after the first race, the Trofeo Laigueglia.
Matteo Busato was the rider that went on the podium at the end of a very spectacular race with many emotional moments.
Bettini, Flotten and El Fares have formed the breakaway of the beginning of the race with a maximum advantage of 9’10”
The french rider from Delko – Marseille was the lone leader at the beginning of the first of the four laps in Laigueglia’s circuit where the peloton was splitting after the attack of the teams Ag2r – La Mondiale and Androni Giocattoli – Sidermec on Colla Micheri’s downhill.
Our race looked very difficult but we started to chase hard and Matteo Busato was able to bridge the bunch of 18 riders who were going to fight for the win.
In the last lap Moreno Moser attacked on Colla Micheri’s climb, an action who was going to be decisive. The lack of cooperation between the chasers helped the trentino rider who claimed his second win in Laigueglia.
The sprint for the second place was won by Paolo Totò just in front of Matteo Busato that with a very good final achieved his first podium of a good beginning of 2018 for the veneto rider.
The next race for the team will be in the next weekend the Tour du Haut Var.
