Only 12 kms have avoided Alex Turrin to finalize an amazing breakaway in the 1st stage of the Tour of the Alps.

The veneto rider has been one of the promoters of the action, started at km 0, that was involving also Bou, Krizek, Friedrich, Saramotins, Rybalkin, Eenkhoorn, Ballerini and Berhane.

Their advantage reached a maximum of 3’10” after the feeding zone in Romagnano when the peloton started to react beginning the climb of Serrada, with the top at -6 from Flogaria, at 2’20”.

On the climb there was selection in front of the race, where only four riders were left with Turrin, and in the back, with the teams of the favourites who were pushing hard.

Once the breakaway was caught it was a matter of 15 riders for the stage win that went to Pello Bilbao.

Edoardo Zardini, 47th, was our top finisher.
