TOUR OF HAINAN: SIMONE VELASCO 11TH IN THE QUEEN STAGE

The hard climb of Changjang has set the final change in the general classification where now Fausto Masnada, today’s winner, is also the new leader with 24 hours to go in this Tour of Hainan.

The final judgement have been written on the 7 kms of the last climb of the day where at the bottom there was still a survivor of today’s breakaway, the dutch rider Peter Schulting, with a gap of 2′ on the peloton where Jacopo Mosca was making a move.

The former winner and owner of the number 1 didn’t want to leave the Tour of Hainan without trying but his attack was vanished when Fausto Masnada counterattacked with only the swiss rider Gino Mader that was able to follow him while our Simone Velasco was losing ground with 4 kms to go.

The rider from Isola d’Elba ended in 11th place keeping the 8th place in the general classification with one stage to go. Tomorrow the race will be back in Danzhou, where Jakub Mareczko won the first stage, for the last race of our season.
